Sources: Coyotes' Sale Falls Apart

Former Sharks CEO Greg Jamison, the main suitor for the Coyotes, cannot produce the capital needed to purchase the team from the NHL and as a result a Jan. 31 deadline to maintain a critical lease agreement with the City of Glendale will pass without a deal being completed, multiple sources have told ESPN.com.

Maple Leafs Send Jake Gardiner To Marlies

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Wednesday that the club has assigned defenceman Jake Gardiner to the Toronto Marlies of the AHL.

Gardiner, 22, appeared in two games for the Maple Leafs this season, registering four shots on goal. The defenceman missed the Leafs first two games of the season due to injury. Gardiner has registered 18 points (nine goals, nine assists) with eight penalty minutes in 23 games for the Marlies in 2012-13.

Senators Call Up Mika Zibanejad

The Senators called up Mika Zibanejad on Monday, according to an ESPN.com report.

The teams' first selection, sixth overall, at the 2011 draft, was in Ottawa enjoying a few days off due to the AHL All-Star break when he received a call saying the Senators wanted him at practice.

"I got the call this morning so it was nice," Zibanejad said. "It was a bit surprising since I was on the break, but I'm just happy to be here now."

Rangers Call Off Deal With Arnott

The tentative deal between the Rangers and free agent Jason Arnott has been called off, a source confirmed.

Although the two sides agreed to terms on a one-year contract Saturday, the 38-year-old center was not cleared by Rangers team doctors, the source confirmed. 

The reason Arnott was not cleared is not immediately known.
